A deep dive into electric innovation presented at Metstrade 2021 with Jeff Hammond
We’re shaking the world of marine equipment!
»Remigo’s integrated electric outboard rudder is a space-saver.«
“But what if there is no tank for liquid fuels, and the engine no longer relies on oxygen intake, as in the case of an electric motor? Then, an outboard could look completely different. For example, like the Remigo.”
»For simplicity and intuitive controls and use I am giving this a solid 5 out of 5 stars. For power delivery, battery, screen and controls 4.5 out of 5. For eco credentials 5 out of 5.«
“On test this outboard gave as much thrust as the ePropulsion below but out performed it in terms of maneuverability. The Remigo can be switched from forward to reverse thrust at the touch of a button.”
»Overall: very impressed. Very tidy, very convenient and very quiet. Nice piece of kit.«
As we know, power delivery in an electric motor is immediate, so using these buttons allows for gradual power delivery, providing both battery savings and a greater safety factor.
“After 35 minutes of driving, of which at least 20 minutes were at full power, we only used up one bar of the charge out of 10. Therefore, we can’t say precisely what its range is, but we’d say it’s quite enough for a week of cruising. With occasional recharging, probably much longer.”

Feedback From Our Users

“This is the best electric outboard engine I’ve tested on our J/70. No sound, no fuel or oil spill, always easy to start and easier to carry and store than its gasoline counterpart.
It’s however about half a knot slower than a 2.2hp Suzuki but for me, the pros outweigh the cons. We had it since the introduction on the market about 5 years ago and haven’t had any problems so far.”
Jimmy Hellberg

“The RemigoOne engines are popular with our clients since they are very intuitive to use. They are light enough to put on and off the boats easily, so operationally very manageable. They are the perfect measure of power for the J70 boat, and the battery lasts a long time when the speed is moderated. On top of this the engine looks great! The designers have created a fabulous unit that outperforms our previous electric engine model.”
Jenny Puttock – Yacht Club Manager from Porto Montenegro Yacht Club, Tivat

“We tested RemigoOne for the first time today. Feeling was good, experience interesting. The feature we liked the most is it’s silent operation, what made possible to talk while steering.”
Matic Vrečko from Karpo Sailing

“We use the Remigo on a small inflatable and it is working perfectly. The battery life is great, it has plenty of power and prefer to run it at 5 green bars on the display. We wish we had bought a second mount to make it easy to move from the dinghy to where we store it on the back of our yacht.”
Sean and Kate from s/v Chinook

“Very satisfied with the Cat and the RemigoOne combo.”

“When we sail, the outboarder is stored with the bag in a locker inside. It takes less room and it is easy to handle.”
